Doris I. Elliott was born to Paul and Mary Allen on September 16, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away on July 7, 2025, with her family by her side.
She was 1 of 9 children.
On June 1, 1955, she married Bud Elliott at Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
She was a stay-at-home mom until the passing of her husband, and had to work to support her three girls and herself, she worked in the kitchen at Broadlawns Hospital, then went to work for Adventureland Inn, and worked in the Kitchen, then she returned to Broadlawns Hospital until her retirement in 2008 She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and watching her favorite game shows, western movies, especially the Duke and Audi Murphy and her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
In her younger days, you would find her, Sue, and Kathy bowling on Saturday Nights at Bowlomat on the Eastside.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters; Bobbi Jo (Thomas) Yaw and Kathy Elliott, grandchildren: Michael (Jessica) Yaw, Eolo (Crystal) Nizzi, and Ashlee (Adam) Wilson, a nephew, Randy (Jen) Allen, who was like a son, and a niece, Niki (Chad) Seaney, who was like a granddaughter always there when needed, seven great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great granddaughter, two brothers: Jack Allen of Junction City, Kansas, and Fred Allen of Des Moines, one sister, Ginny del Rosario of Des Moines, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Allen; her husband, Bud Elliott; her daughter, Susie Elliott; her grandson, Baby Kenny Yaw; three sisters: Ann, Barb, and Neva; two brothers: David and Paul Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed!
A graveside service will be held at noon on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A small luncheon will follow the service at The Croatian Center, located on Indianola Avenue in Des Moines.
