Our beloved Jordan Douglas Deaton left this physical world on January 8, 2026, at the age of 28. Born on August 20, 1997, in Des Moines, Jordan entered this world larger than life. He was a limited edition, whose journey was filled with laughter, and a spirit of love and kindness that touched the hearts of many and lit up any room he walked in.
Gripped with shock and devastation, his mother Jennifer; siblings Nate & Danielle and Makenna & Brett; Niece Carmen Kay; and cherished family are working to comprehend the tragedy of his passing. Jordan’s countless friends and fellowship walk alongside his family as they process and grieve this profound loss.
Jordan was preceded in death by his father, Brian; stepfather, Tim; grandparents, Debbie and Stanley; aunts Jessica and Lori; and cousin Mitchell. Each of these spirits lived on within him, helping shape and encourage the loving man Jordan became. In life, these losses weighed heavily on his heart; in death, that weight has lifted as he is reunited with them, welcomed by warm embraces once more.
A passionate member of the recovery community, Jordan was an embodiment of resilience and a beacon of hope for many. He possessed an innate ability to listen and connect with others, greeting friends—and even strangers—with a warm bear hug. Jordan understood the importance of community and was deeply devoted to serving others, always willing to help anyone in need—a trait he inherited from his grandpa Stan and his father, Brian.
His quick wit and sense of humor brought joy to those around him, as he took great delight in making people laugh. Jordan’s protective nature stemmed from a profound love for his family, especially his mother. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and his admiration for her was evident in everything he did.
Music was a significant part of Jordan’s life. He poured his heart and soul into writing lyrics that expressed his deepest thoughts and feelings. His love for music—and for showing up loud and proud—meant you often heard Jordan’s beats long before you saw him arrive. He took great pride in the sound of his car system, just as he did in a fresh pair of shoes perfectly matched to his outfit, always finished with a touch of added bling.
As we mourn the loss of Jordan, we also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the countless memories he created with those he loved. His funeral will be held on January 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM, 3120 SW 9th St. Des Moines, Iowa, where family and friends will gather to honor his legacy.
Your thoughtful expressions of sympathy, whether flowers to the service address or contribution to the memorial fund are deeply appreciated.
Jordan, you will be forever missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all those you touched. Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the lessons. Rest in peace, dear son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
